Job Description

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Engineering Technician to support our engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for building, testing, troubleshooting, and documenting electronic assemblies and systems. This role is crucial for supporting new product development, existing product maintenance, and ensuring our products meet high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prototype Assembly: Assemble, rework, and solder electronic prototypes, including both surface-mount (SMT) and through-hole components.
  • Testing & Validation: Set up test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, power supplies) to perform functional, validation, and verification tests on new designs.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair electronic circuits and systems down to the component level, reading schematics and technical diagrams to identify issues.
  • Documentation: Meticulously record test procedures, results, and observations. Assist in creating technical documentation, assembly instructions, and test reports.
  • Lab Management: Maintain the engineering lab, including managing component inventory, tools, and test equipment calibration.
  • Support: Assist engineers with building test fixtures, wiring harnesses, and preparing for regulatory testing (such as EMC/EMI).
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure a smooth transition from design to production.

Skills and Qualifications

Required:

  • Associate's degree in Electronic Engineering Technology, or equivalent military training or professional experience.
  • Proven experience in reading and interpreting electronic schematics and PCB layout drawings.
  • Strong hands-on skills in soldering (SMT and through-hole), desoldering, and electronic assembly.
  • Proficiency with standard electronic test and measurement equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small, dynamic team.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with microcontrollers and embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance testing (e.g., EMC, ESD, safety).
  • Basic understanding of programming (e.g., C/C++, or scripting) for test automation.
  • Experience with PCB layout software (e.g., Altium, Diptrace).
