Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Position available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide effective communication support in a high school setting located in Manchester, NH. This contract role offers the opportunity to apply sign language expertise within an educational environment, supporting students and staff throughout the academic year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate clear and accurate communication between hearing-impaired students and their peers, teachers, and staff.
- Interpret lectures, discussions, and classroom interactions using American Sign Language (ASL).
- Assist in extracurricular activities as needed to ensure full student participation.
- Collaborate with educators and support personnel to optimize learning experiences.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficient American Sign Language skills with demonstrated interpreting experience.
- Prior experience in educational or similar environments preferred.
- Strong understanding of deaf culture and communication needs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High school education required; additional certifications in interpreting are a plus.
