This position has the potential to be full-time (35 hours per week) for the right candidate. A full-time role would require travel within Cheshire and Sullivan counties to support teaching staff and families across all SCS Head Start sites. Reliable transportation and flexibility in scheduling are essential to ensure consistent support and engagement across the program’s service area.


Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated Social and Emotional Coach to support the behavioral, social, and emotional health of children enrolled in our Head Start program. You will coach teaching staff in implementing the Pyramid Model (CSEFEL Framework) and collaborate with parents to enhance children’s social skills and emotional wellness both at school and at home.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Coaching & Support: Guide teaching staff in using the Pyramid Model to foster a positive classroom climate and support children’s social and emotional development.
  • Curriculum Planning: Assist with curriculum planning, role modeling strategies, and providing resources to ensure a nurturing and engaging learning environment.
  • Observations & Feedback: Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to help teachers incorporate new approaches.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Behavior Specialist/Disabilities Services Manager and the Education Services Manager.
  • Parent Engagement: Offer strategies and resources to parents to support their children’s emotional wellness at home.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with best practices through continuing education.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
  • Extensive knowledge of child development and experience working with preschool children (Head Start experience preferred).
  • Familiarity with Head Start Performance Standards, NAEYC, and the CSEFEL Framework (training provided if needed).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel within Cheshire and Sullivan counties.

Part Time (29.5 hours/week, M-F, 5 Days/week): Cheshire County only: Work Daily in Keene Head Start Center (with travel to Swanzey and Jaffrey Centers)

Part Time (24 hours/week, 4 days/ week): Sullivan County Only: Work Daily in Claremont Head Start Center (with travel to Newport center and Keene main office)

Full Time (35 Hours): includes travel in Cheshire County (Keene, Swanzey, Jaffrey) as well as in Sullivan County to in Claremont and Newport.

Employment Type:

  • Part-Time 29.5 hours/week, or 24 hours/week or Full-Time 35 hours/week + benefits
  • School Year: mid-August to mid-June
  • In Person, Travel Required
