Job DescriptionDescription:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Part-Time Competitive Team Coach to support the development of youth athletes in our Competitive Team program. This coach will help facilitate high-quality practices, mentor athletes across age and experience levels, and contribute to a positive, growth-oriented team culture. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable about climbing movement, committed to athlete development, and values collaboration and communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coach practices 2–4 days per week, including evenings and weekends.
  • Support athlete development in bouldering, lead, and/or speed disciplines through structured training and individualized feedback.
  • Assist in preparing athletes for competitions,
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and motivating training environment for all team members.
  • Communicate regularly with the Head Coach and other coaches to align on athlete goals and training progressions.
  • Attend competitions and team events as needed, including travel when applicable.

Support and embody the BP gym’s values, code of conduct, and long-term development philosophy.

Requirements:

  • Prior coaching experience in climbing or a related athletic discipline
  • Experience working with youth or adolescent athletes
  • Understanding of indoor competition climbing formats (USAC)
  • Ability to design practices with clear training goals and objectives in line with curriculum
  • Ability to give clear, constructive, and encouraging feedback
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days)

Preferred:

  • Personal experience in competition climbing, routesetting
  • Familiarity with long-term athlete development and age-appropriate training principles
  • USAC Coach Certification or SafeSport training (or willingness to obtain)
