Occupational Therapist – Upper Extremity / Hand Therapy
Location: Needham, MA (On-Site, Monday–Friday, 40 hrs/week)
Start Date: January 2026 (Orientation/training prior to opening)
Sign-On Bonus: $5,000
Overview
Boston Children’s Hospital is expanding its Department of Pediatric Occupational Therapy to a new Needham location. We’re seeking an Occupational Therapist with a focus on upper extremity and hand therapy to join a collaborative, growth-oriented clinical team.
You’ll work with children and young adults (birth–age 27) recovering from traumatic injuries, congenital conditions, neurological deficits, and reconstructive surgeries. This is a hands-on, team-based environment that values clinical reasoning, development, and innovation.
What You’ll Do
- Provide evidence-based occupational therapy to patients with upper extremity injuries or conditions
- Perform functional and developmental assessments
- Develop individualized treatment plans to support recovery and participation in daily activities
- Collaborate with orthopedic and plastic surgeons, neurologists, and other specialists
- Utilize advanced technologies, including robotic and exoskeletal devices
- Educate families and patients on therapeutic goals and home programs
- Participate in team-based meetings and care planning

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy (Master’s preferred)
- MA Occupational Therapy license required
- 1+ year experience in upper extremity or hand therapy preferred
- Pediatric or hospital-based therapy experience strongly preferred
- Strong critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills
