Job Overview

The Production Technician II is responsible for basic production operations within Boston BioProducts. Must have the ability to work independently in a fast-paced lab environment while maintaining high standards for the final product. This position is also responsible for the daily upkeep and cleanliness of the production area, which includes chemicals, materials, and equipment.


Roles & Responsibilities


  • Performs general housekeeping in compliance with the standards required.

  • Demonstrates a sound knowledge and understanding of GMP requirements.

  • Demonstrates the care and safety necessary to properly safeguard facilities, equipment, product and co-workers.

  • Performance and adherence of MFG protocols and batch records pertaining to filtration and assisting peers as needed.

  • Assembles, cleans and operates production equipment (i.e. filters, pumps, pipettes, BSC, benchtop surfaces, etc.).

  • Demonstrates GDP by performing real time documentation during production run and maintains accurate records/logs.

  • Reviews documentation prior to completion of records

  • Ensures daily/weekly tasks are completed in a timely fashion (i.e. track and stock consumable items, ensure proper storage of raw materials and buffers, delivery of QC samples, execution of proper disposal methods, etc.)

  • Maintains up to date training records.

  • Performs finished goods filtration and packing activities independently.

  • Demonstrates understanding of beliefs, values and behaviors in accordance with company culture.

  • Shows ability to train new technicians in finished goods filtration and packing activities.

  • Shows understanding of buffer compositions, (ie. Molecular weights, concentrations and dilutions).

  • Executes calibration, daily maintenance and operations of production equipment (i.e. pH and conductivity meters, Osmometer, SUMs, fume hood, etc.)

  • Prepares buffer solutions and properly stores process intermediates. Able to independently manufacture in stock buffers

  • Performs pH and buffer adjustments accordingly.

  • Performs calculations for processing.

  • Weighs all powders, chemicals, and reagents needed and performs all calculations, preparations and reagent additions.

  • Recognizes and identifies mechanical, chemical, and safety hazards to the proper individuals.

  • Is capable of working in multiple roles associated with the manufacturing of solutions.

  • Develop a better understanding of how to be supportive of new processes and initiatives.
  • Create a company culture which is representative of company values.


Qualifications and Requirements

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • Fundamental knowledge of solutions and reagents, including properties, functional, application, and precaution
  • Fundamental knowledge of chemistry concepts such as molarity, concentration, and mass.
  • Fundamental knowledge with dimensional analysis for basic dilutions and conversions.
  • Fundamental knowledge of ISO standards and other applicable regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, multitask, and change priorities while maintaining productivity.
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift at least 25 pounds.
