Primary Purpose

Core Responsibilities:

<li>Receives, triages, and assigns appropriate level of care to all incoming clinical phone calls to Health Services based on clinical assessment including the provision of self-care instructions based on presenting symptoms in accordance with Health Services, state, and federal protocols when appropriate </li>
<li>Uses physical assessment skills during in-person appointments to independently evaluate a student complaint, making recommendations for self care, further evaluation by MD/NP or for urgent care outside of health services. Recognizes and immediately intervenes in emergent situations such as acute traumatic injury, cardiac arrest and anaphylaxis, in accordance with Health Services protocols </li>

<li>Administers medications, vaccines, and allergy immunotherapy injections with full understanding of appropriate dose, preparation, route of administration, and potential adverse effects </li>
<li>Provides oversight for nurse triage line, nursing visits, clinical scheduling, clinical supplies, compliance, and preventative maintenance program for equipment </li>
<li>Ensures appropriate recruitment, training, supervision, development, and evaluation of registered nurses (2) and medical assistants (2), including any trainees or students </li>
<li>Ensures compliance with regulatory standards including Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) and Vermont Immunization requirements. </li>
<li>Provides oversight of clinical supply ordering/management and completes timely documentation in the EHR according to best practices and Health Services policies </li>
<li>Communicates professionally and effectively with students, colleagues, CHR Directors and collaborating providers </li>

Position Overview: 
The Controller is an important contributor to the leadership team.  This key role provides hands-on involvement with monthly and yearly closings, prepares and reviews financial statements, and communicates key trends to the CEO and senior management team. While this is primarily a hands-on role, the position is also strategic.  The Controller will work with the CEO and leadership team on the long-term financial strategy of the company.  In addition, this position manages five members of the accounting team. 
Essential Job Duties: 
Daily, Monthly &amp; Annual Responsibilities: 
<ul>
<li>Prepare, monitor, and analyze monthly and annual financial reports for the CEO and management team.  Communicate key trends and findings about the financials. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Review bank, credit card, and cash reconciliations. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Prepare and post journal entries. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Ensure all transactions for the period are accounted for. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Oversee accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP) processes and assist with payroll processing. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Review significant variances and provide recommendations on areas that should be addressed. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Ensure accurate and timely filing of federal, state, and local income tax returns and other business-related filings. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Generate monthly reports that include A/R, A/P, and WIP. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Develop the annual budget, provide monthly and quarterly analysis of the budget to actual, and make recommendations based on company performance. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Work with the accounting team on the audit. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Assist the outside accountants with everything needed to prepare annual financial statements and tax returns. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Create and maintain financial controls and procedures for the accounting department. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Additional job responsibilities may be periodically assigned by the CEO. </li>
</ul>
Financial Leadership: 
<ul>
<li>Provide financial analysis and projections to leadership to guide strategic decisions. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Advise the CEO on financial trends impacting the business. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Present financial information at management meetings and provide financial guidance. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Stay up to date on trends and developments in the accounting profession and implement best practices.  </li>
</ul>
Team Development: 
<ul>
<li>Provide mentorship to the accounting team to help them reach their professional goals. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Lead regular accounting team meetings to support the team in prioritizing tasks. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive. </li>
</ul>
Technology Utilization: 
<ul>
<li>Optimize the utilization of Great Plains systems and leverage its full potential. </li>
</ul>
 to make accounting processes as efficient as possible. 
Education, Skills, and Experience: 
<ul>
<li>Bachelor's degree in accounting, business or equivalent experience. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>At least five years of related experience required. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Strong experience and high proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Accounting Software. Great Plans experience is highly desirable. </li>
</ul>

<li>Ability to work independently, with initiative, multitask and prioritize work assignments and manage time. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Good communication skills, organization skills and can meet deadlines. </li>

Under the direction of the Director of Cardiology and Respiratory Services provides services to inpatients and outpatients as directed by the medical staff at Central Vermont Medical Center.&nbsp; Functions within the scope of practice of the Respiratory Therapy Department and the hospital policies and procedures.&nbsp; Serves as a resource to nursing staff and physicians in the care of patients with respiratory problems.&nbsp; Participates in quality management activities hospital wide and with the Respiratory Therapy Department.&nbsp; Assumes leadership responsibilities at the request of the Director of Respiratory Therapy.
EDUCATION:
A graduate of an associate degree program from a respiratory therapist education program 1) supported or accredited by the commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care, or 2) Accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health education Programs.&nbsp; Must have successfully passed the Registry exam as a Registered Respiratory Therapy Technician as defined by the National Board of Respiratory Care. .&nbsp; A Certified Respiratory Technician who has graduated from an accredited Respiratory program and is eligible to take the Registry exam may be hired into the Registered Respiratory Therapist range with the expectation that the employee will successfully pass the Registry exam within one-year of the hire date. If, after one year with CVMC, the therapist has not passed the Registry exam from the National Board of Respiratory Care then the employee will be re-classified as a Certified Respiratory Care Practitioner. Must hold a current Respiratory Care Practitioner license issued by the state of Vermont. A temporary license to practice may be issued by the State of Vermont.
EXPERIENCE:
9 to 12 months on the job performance to become proficient
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) required
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification-Required within 6 months from date of hire.
