Position: Drinking Water Technical Assistance Specialist
Title: Drinking Water Circuit Rider
Location: Massachusetts
Hours: Full-time. Exempt, 40 hours per week
Schedule:&nbsp; Monday – Friday; some flexible hours
The Mass Rural Water Association (MassRWA) is a nonprofit statewide membership organization. We are dedicated to supporting water and wastewater utilities through onsite technical support, training, and planning assistance. The Mass Rural Water Association was incorporated in 2005 and is a member of the National Rural Water Association.&nbsp;
Job Description:&nbsp;
Are you interested in helping to protect the nation’s &nbsp;Monday–Friday investment in rural and small municipal drinking water systems?&nbsp;
As a Circuit Rider with Mass Rural Water Association, you will play a pivotal role in delivering technical assistance and training to personnel within small drinking water systems throughout Massachusetts. Your responsibilities will include providing essential financial, managerial, and technical support to these communities. Your primary goal will be to empower utilities to efficiently provide safe drinking water while adhering to state and federal regulations.
You will become part of a dedicated team committed to making tangible improvements in rural communities. You will work in a supportive environment where your knowledge and skills are highly valued and appreciated.&nbsp;
&nbsp;Specific Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Travel throughout Massachusetts offering direct onsite assistance to small drinking water systems, supplemented by responsive phone and email support.</li>
<li>Timely completion of all required reports and documentation.</li>
<li>Participate in ongoing technical training programs.</li>
<li>Contribute to organizational marketing efforts through written materials.</li>
<li>Collaborate with multi-billion-dollarmanagement team to set and achieve association goals.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Provide emergency response support to water systems during disasters.</li>
<li>Maintain up-to-date knowledge of state and federal regulations governing water systems.</li>
<li>Foster professional relationships and communication with colleagues, regulators, and the public.</li>
<li>Demonstrate strong organizational and interpersonal skills, working autonomously or as part of a team.</li>
<li>Undertake additional tasks assigned by the management team to advance association objectives.</li>
</ul>
Skills:
<ul>
<li>Technical experience in water treatment and distribution is the preferred. We are willing to train a highly motivated individual ready to learn regulatory compliance issues and public water system operations and maintenance.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Ability to communicate effectively in person, in print, and electronically in a professional manner.</li>
<li>Capable of independent decision-making and advisory roles.</li>
<li>Willingness to obtain state professional license(s); Massachusetts Water Treatment and/or Distribution Operator Certification&nbsp;</li>
<li>Possession of a valid driver's license.&nbsp;</li>
</ul>
Physical Demands and Environment:
<ul>
<li>Extensive travel throughout Massachusetts.</li>
<li>Field Position- exposure to outdoor elements throughout all four seasons.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Establishment of a field office at home.</li>
<li>Attend a minimum of two multi-day events annually that require overnight stays and travel to other states.</li>
<li>Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a diverse team.</li>
</ul>
