Job DescriptionDescription:

The YMCA of Downtown Manchester summer program is seeking Group Leaders and Assistant Group Leaders for the summer 2025 season! If you are looking for a fulfilling summer job where you can build your leadership skills, have a meaningful impact on others, and enjoy your summer playing games and having fun with a supportive team – this is the opportunity for YOU!

Our camp, a predominantly inner-city activity-based camp, serves youth ages 6-15 while coaching campers to build relationships, try new things, make memories, and ensure camper safety all while having fun and acting as positive role models. We strive to build supportive and empowering teams to help all team members show up as their best and most authentic selves, so that you can learn, grow and thrive during your time at the Y.

Group Leaders will be assigned to a unit/group of same-age campers that best fits their preferences, experiences and the needs of the camp. They will work with fellow leaders to manage campers, facilitate and participate in activities, and build valuable peer to peer connections.

Responsibilities:

  • Build positive nurturing relationships with campers
  • Build cooperative relationships with coworkers, supervisors and parents
  • Lead and participate in a variety of camp activities – arts & crafts, STEM, active games and more
  • Engage positively in camp life in a variety of activities and locations
  • Engage with campers in a way that fosters Character building
  • Uphold the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Courage

Qualifications:

  • Must meet State of NH Child Care Licensing requirements
  • Criminal background check and fingerprinting will be completed upon being offered a position
  • Experience working or volunteering with youth in a recreation, or similar setting, preferred
  • Must be willing and able to obtain CPR & First Aid Certifications, or currently hold
  • Must be available to attend camp trainings before and throughout camp season
  • Able to bring a patient, caring, responsible, flexible and positive attitude to work

Position Specifics:

  • Camp season runs 6/23/2025 through 8/15/2025 and must be able to work most of the camp weeks

Year-round employment opportunities are available with the YMCA. We encourage you to join our dynamic summer team, and support youth in creating a great summer camp experience!
