Job Summary
We are seeking a Line Cook/Prep Cook to join the team at our busy restaurant. In this position, you will be working in a fun and fast-paced environment, responsible for preparing delicious tacos and burritos for our customers. The ideal candidate has 1-3 year experience in a commercial kitchen, and is committed to contributing to an excellent dining experience for patrons. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set up workstations with all necessary supplies and equipment
- Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
- Prepare customer food orders quickly and accurately, following standard recipes
- Safely operate all kitchen equipment, and perform ongoing cleaning and maintenance
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment by following food safety regulations
- Maintain appropriate levels of inventory and restock when necessary
- Perform cost-control, portion control, food rotation and other kitchen operations designed to minimize waste
- Participate in daily kitchen opening and closing procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned by the head chef or management
Qualifications:
- Reliable schedule
- Availability to work days, nights, weekends and holidays
- ServeSafe or Food Handlers Certification (or to be obtained 15 days upon hiring)
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing for long periods and lifting up to 40 pounds
- A positive, can-do attitude and a team-player with effective communications skills
- Ability to remain calm and thrive under pressure
- Excellent time management skills
- Previous experience in a similar role is preferred (1-3 years) but not necessary; we will train the right individual
