Nuclera is a venture-backed, founder-driven biotech company headquartered in Cambridge, UK with significant operations in Boston, USA. The company’s mission is to improve human health by making proteins accessible. We are beginning this mission through the launch of our eProtein Discovery™ platform. eProtein Discovery is a breakthrough protein expression, characterization, and purification technology, consisting of a lab-based benchtop instrument, cloud-based software and proprietary cartridges and consumables. The goal is to enable rapid protein access to life science researchers around the world.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Key Account Manager with a proven track record working with large biopharmas to help strategic penetration and growth of our customer base in the Eastern US region. This will require leveraging your rolodex of the top biopharma companies to facilitate integration of our technology into early drug discovery workflows. You will take charge of the defined territory and contribute significantly to the company’s revenue and growth goals.
This role will suit an individual who has experience and drive working in a fast-paced biotech environment with a track record of execution and teamwork. You should be someone who has experience managing strong relationships with big pharma.
About the role
- Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, expanding the client base across pharma, CROs, academia etc
- Negotiation: Leading complex multi-product, multi-year and multi-site negotiations working with key opinion leaders and stakeholders
- Strategic Account Management: Develop and implement strategic account plans to achieve sales targets and business objectives
- Strategic Planning: Take ownership of building the East Coast region with a focus on top tier biopharma accounts as well as CROs, academic other biotechnology accounts
- Client Relationship Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key clients, understanding their needs and goals
- Sales Performance: Monitor and analyze sales performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to enhance results
- Reporting and Analysis: Prepare reports on sales performance, client interactions, and market trends
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the product development team to ensure that Nuclera’s products meet customer needs and market demands. Collaborate with marketing, operations, and other departments to ensure alignment and effective execution of business strategies
- Company Ambassador: Represent Nuclera at industry events, conferences and trade shows, and build a strong brand presence in the market
Requirements
Essential
- Bachelor’s Degree in the Life Sciences or related field
- Extensive sales experience working with large biopharma’s across the US with a focus and strength in the East Coast
- Extensive experience with capital equipment sales process involving closing multiple large deals across multiple sites
- Proven track record of strategic penetration, pitching and completing deals across multiple sectors like pharma, biotech, CROs, and academia
- Significant experience with designing and closing complex deals focused on life science tools, with multiple applications in big pharma, biotech, and other life sciences settings
- Proven track record of managing client engagements at senior level to ensure delivery of value, and to expand use of a technology deeply and broadly throughout accounts
- Experience managing in depth negotiations and communications on multiple contracts simultaneously and interfacing with highly matrixed multi-disciplinary teams to complete contract terms
- Experience developing and improving team sales strategies and adjust them as necessary in response to market changes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze sales data and market trends to inform decision-making
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build & develop long term strategic relationships with customers, stakeholders, and internal teams.
- Strong presentation and public speaking skills, with the ability to deliver compelling sales presentations
- Ability to travel as necessary to meet with customers and attend industry events and trade shows
Desirable
- MSc or PhD in Protein Science or similar/related field
- Deep knowledge of the pharmaceutical life cycle – from drug discovery through drug development, and understanding of pain points such that they can be addressed with an applicable technology
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance in early drug discovery in the biopharma industry
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
