In Vitro Diagnostics Scientist/Engineer - Redefine Diagnostics
Job Description
Job Description
Engineer Science into Impact
At EmergingDx Inc, we are reimagining diagnostics at the edge of science, engineering, and innovation. As an institution for integrated innovation, we fuse biology, technology, and systems design to build transformative diagnostic tools that improve human health and empower clinicians, patients, and communities.
We’re looking for an In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) Scientist/Engineer to join our mission-driven team. You’ll help architect, prototype, and validate next-generation diagnostic platforms—from rapid point-of-care assays to integrated microfluidic systems for disease monitoring and early detection.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of biological insight and engineering ingenuity, and who wants to shape the future of healthcare from the bench to the field.
Responsibilities (What You’ll Do)
- Design, develop, and optimize IVD assays (immunoassays, molecular diagnostics, or clinical chemistry) for lab-on-chip and point-of-care platforms
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate biological assays with microfluidic, optical, and electronic systems
- Lead analytical validation studies including sensitivity, specificity, reproducibility, and regulatory performance metrics
- Prototype, test, and troubleshoot diagnostic systems across wet lab and hardware environments
- Contribute to product development processes including documentation, risk analysis, quality systems (ISO 13485), and FDA regulatory pathways
- Apply systems thinking to challenges in sample preparation, biomarker detection, signal amplification, and data analysis
- Effectively communicate results and technical insights to clients and stakeholders through both written reports and oral presentations
- Develop and manage fast-paced project timelines while proactively identifying and mitigating risks
- Stay current on scientific literature, emerging technologies, and clinical needs in diagnostics
- Craft and deliver clear, compelling narratives—both written and oral—conveying technical project progress and proposed initiatives
Qualifications (What You Bring)
- PhD in Bioengineering, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in vitro diagnostics, medical devices, or translational research
- Strong knowledge of assay formats: ELISA, lateral flow, qPCR, CRISPR-based diagnostics, isothermal amplification, or electrochemical detection
- Experience with fluidic handling systems (manual and automated), sample matrices (blood, saliva, urine), and surface functionalization
- Familiarity with data acquisition and analysis, including use of MATLAB, Python, or other statistical tools
- Comfortable working across disciplines with engineers, designers, and clinicians
- Adaptability in fast-paced environments
- Detail-oriented, systems-focused, and passionate about delivering health impact through innovation
- Proven track record of leading R&D programs to deliver innovative, high-quality outcomes on schedule, aligned with stakeholder expectations and technical goals
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Bonus: Experience in microfabrication, biosensor integration, point-of-care regulatory submissions, or multiplexed assay development
Why EmergingDx
- You’ll work on products, platforms, and ventures — not just features
- You’ll gain ownership, mentorship, and momentum
- You’ll be part of something bigger: a community shaping what’s next
- We offer a competitive salary with full benefits package.
