The Mortgage Lending Assistant provides direct mortgage services and supports the Mortgage Origination Department by providing administrative service throughout the mortgage loan process. This position will be responsible for Front Desk coverage within the hours of 8:30AM – 5:00PM. The hours of work for this position are subject to service delivery requirements within this timeframe and may also include overtime.

Greets and assists members by providing general information about loan products, interest rates, and other information (as necessary) in a manner which preserves member privacy and confidentiality. Schedules quality appointments and ensures borrowers are prepared for their appointments. General knowledge of the credit union is expected, with a high level of member service and ability to troubleshoot independently. Is responsible for the intake of member documentation, for multiple areas of the credit union. This includes making copies and scanning items to appropriate team members.

Manages the Mortgage Inbox in a timely manner, which includes Responding to member inquiries, online application assignment and clean up, sending and maintaining member intro email templates, monitoring and assigning Document Center notifications, monitoring and assigning incoming AccountChek results. Maintains the online and coverage tracking sheets. Maintains the rush coverage schedule.

Provides administrative support to the Mortgage Sales Managers, VP of Mortgage Lending, and others in the Mortgage Department as necessary. This includes contact with relevant parties to coordinate the repair and/or maintenance of departmental equipment, ordering departmental supplies, updating and maintaining forms and disclosures in our internal loans drive and the Document Library, and other administrative tasks as requested. Assists with Saturday scheduling for Mortgage Loan Officers, including calendar input. Adds departmental vacation time on the Mortgage Loan Officers calendar.

Knowledge and SkillsExperience
A minimum of one year up to three years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.
Education/Certifications/Licenses
Highschool degree, or equivalent. Incumbents are required to maintain their registration active, and current, with the National Mortgage Licensing System throughout their employment.
Interpersonal Skills
A significant level of trust, creditability and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in the position. In depth dialogues, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature is a normal part of the day-to-day experience. Communications can involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance.
Other Skills
COMPETENCIES: Must be at least 18 years of age. Favorable Background, Credit, Criminal, Bondability, and Reference Checks required. (Motor Vehicle check dependent on position.) Travel to other branches or locations may be required depending on position. Knowledge of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac guidelines is required. Bilingual skills are a plus.

Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
Working Conditions
Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions.
