In addition, applicants should be willing to participate in ongoing training and skills building activities related to their job.Position Overview:We are seeking a responsible and dedicated Dog Walker to join our team and manage a pre-set schedule Monday-Friday 8:15am-4:15pm. The schedule varies slightly based on the day of the week. This role involves traveling to customers' homes, walking dogs according to their specific needs, and ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the duration of each walk. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of dog behavior, excellent time management skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional pet care.Key Responsibilities:1. Dog Walking & Engagement
- Walk dogs according to the scheduled duration and route while accommodating their needs.
- Monitor and engage with dogs to promote positive behavior and socialization.
- Implement proper leash techniques to ensure safety and foster appropriate behavior.
2. Safe Dog Handling
- Ensure secure leash handling and adherence to safety protocols at all times.
3. Health & Well-Being Monitoring
- Provide fresh water and check for signs of distress or health conditions.
- Ensure each dog has a full water bowl before leaving the premises.
- Use sound judgement as it relates to weather elements which includes but is not limited to properly dressing dogs, shifting the walking route (example: utilizing shade and grass in the summer rather than walking on pavement).
4. Professionalism and Communication:
- Report any behavioral or health concerns to management promptly for timely communication with clients.
- Manage a pre-set walking schedule efficiently to ensure punctuality for all appointments.
- Adherence to company policies, including no alcohol, drugs, or smoking/vaping during working hours.
Qualifications:1. Experience:
- Minimum of 6 months of professional experience in dog handling, training, or related fields.
- Proven understanding/knowledge of dog behavior and body language.
2. Skills:
- Strong ability to engage and interact with dogs of various breeds and temperaments.
- Proficient communication skills for effective interaction with clients and their pets.
- Organizational skills for managing multiple dogs and their individual needs.
- Time management skills for managing the route schedule and ensuring attentiveness to show up at customers homes on time.
- Represent the company in a professional manner during all public and customer interactions.
- Effectively communicate with managers regarding specific dog behavior and experiences during playtime, especially when you notice any unwanted behaviors that could escalate. Management uses this information to directly communicate with customers.
3. Requirements:
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and a clean driving record. With a minimum of 5 years driving experience.
- Must pass a background check and a pet care skills assessment.
- Reliable transportation and cell phone.
- Must be able to work 8:15 am - 4:15 pm Monday through Friday.
Working Conditions:
- This position requires frequent outdoor activity and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and kneeling while interacting with dogs. Ability to lift, carry, or hold animals up to 50 lbs.
