- Have a strong understanding of ACH transactions, check processing, wire transfers, and reconciliation processes.
- Have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Processing, verifying, and reconciling deposits and payments.
- Handling financial transactions such as incoming and outgoing check returns, remote deposits, ATM files, and wire transactions.

Summary:
The Deposit Operations Specialist I plays a crucial role in processing, verifying, and reconciling deposits and payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards. This role handles financial transactions such as incoming and outgoing check returns, remote deposits, ATM files, and wire transactions, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
Essential Functions:
- Review and process incoming and outgoing check returns. Reverse returned checks from their original accounts and process checks that are returned due to non-sufficient funds (NSF) and notify relevant departments in a timely and professional manner. Handle all check-related adjustments to members accounts.
- Point person for remote deposits, responsible for processing files and clearing the Risk Review queue. Handle exceptions and perform ON-US posting jobs as required. Process ATM files and adjust accounts for discrepancies.
- Perform necessary check repairs Image Center and ensure all repairs are completed after running processing files.
- Handle federal clearing and settlement adjustments. This involves the clearing and settlement of financial transactions, including checks and electronic transfers, processed through the Federal Reserve system.
- Review large item ON-US checks over current policy limit for signature verification to identify potential forgery. Maintain adherence to return requirements and manage risk factors effectively.
- Rotate departmental responsibilities as needed, including but not limited to wire and ACH transactions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in processing.
- Verify and reconcile daily transaction reports, ensuring all payments and deposits are posted correctly. Resolve discrepancies and issues related to transactions, working with internal teams and customers.
- Collaborate with the Deposit Operations team to facilitate in-department training and establish backup procedures to ensure seamless business continuity.
- Must maintain predictable and reliable attendance.

Qualifications:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
Certifications:
- NACHA Certified Payments Professional or ability to achieve within 6 months employment required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in deposit operations or a similar financial role required.
Skills:
- Experience with MS office products including, word and excel.
- Strong understanding of ACH transactions, check processing, wire transfers, and reconciliation.
- Proficiency with banking software and systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in handling financial transactions.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
