We are seeking a seasoned operational leader with exemplary communication and customer service skills. This role is based in Greater Boston, supporting sites in Beverly, MA, and Cambridge, MA.
Your Role:
Tobin Scientific is looking for a Sr. Business Operations Manager to oversee, organize, and optimize daily Shipping/Receiving operations on behalf of a global pharma leader. This role serves as a unit leader and primary customer liaison. Your work establishing the processes and culture of this team is foundational to an emergent growth opportunity for Tobin Scientific. This business unit ensures the client's timely access to necessary laboratory materials, enabling uninterrupted operations. As a key face of Tobin Scientific, the ideal candidate epitomizes professionalism within the drug development setting.
As a Sr. Business Ops Manager, you ensure our team delivers safe, efficient, and high-quality service. You provide hands-on leadership, balancing day-to-day operational management with longer-term planning and process improvement. This position requires a mix of strategic aptitude, operational know-how, and mentorship. You'll be a key connector between staff, management, and customer end users; ensuring smooth communication and alignment at every level.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, Life Science, or related field
- Successful track record of 5+ years in operations management, preferably within a logistics, laboratory or warehousing environment
- Strong leadership and people management with the ability to motivate and guide large teams
- Experience problem-solving in complex environments and resolving escalations effectively
- Excellent communicator (in-person and written) and collaborator
Minimum Skills:
- Committed to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), and ERP or WMS systems
- Organized, detail-oriented and able to achieve objectives with minimal oversight
- Capable of effective resource planning and allocation
- Adaptable in dynamic environments with a strong customer service mindset and a focus on delivering operational excellence
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, ensuring timely execution and addressing urgent operational needs without sacrificing quality
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day operations across both sites, ensuring activities run smoothly and efficiently
- Manage and support a team up to 15 employees, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment
- Serve as the main point of contact for clients, helping ensure excellent service and communication
- Partner with senior leadership to align site goals with company objectives
- Allocating resources (people, equipment, materials) effectively to ensure operational goals
- Oversee training programs for staff, ensuring that all team members are up to date with required skills, compliance standards, and operational procedures
- Enhance training programs to support ongoing growth and compliance
- Track and report key performance metrics, including order fulfillment and staging accuracy, on-time delivery, processing, and quality of damage/loss reports
- Provide constructive feedback, coaching team members for performance improvements, and supporting career development goals
- Interpret operational data, identify trends, and make informed decisions to improve processes
- Travel between the Beverly and Cambridge sites will be required as needed
Pay Range: The annual salary range for this position is as follows:
$110,000 - $120,000.
Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law.
